Competitors are separated into three different divisions. Whether you shoot in Open, Modified or Limited will be determined by what guns you will use. For details of equipment, go to the above link, but basically, Open means that anything goes as long as pistol magazines are no longer than 170 mm, Modified is equivalent to SOF (Soldier of Fortune) rules where the pistol must be of Limited guidelines with no electronic sights or any porting or compensators, the rifle may have any scope, (dialed no higher than 4X) and the shotgun will also be held to those component guidelines with no more than 9 rounds loaded at any time. And Limited has the same rules as Modified but the rifle must have only battle-worthy metal sights.(no bipods)
Year-end trophies will be given out 1 for every four shooters who have shot at least half the matches in a division. The final order of shooters will be determined by their best three finishes match percentages in Division, and any ties will be broken by looking at their fourth place result, etc. To stem “cherry picking,” no trophies will be issued to any competitor in two different divisions (i.e.: only one trophy per shooter).
There are 12 matches scheduled at Aurora this year so that competitors should have plenty of opportunities to shoot at least three matches and perhaps more, so they may sluff off bad match percentages for their year-end totals. Maps to each range can be found at other areas of the http://www.ecouspsa.com web site, and specific questions can be addressed by either Rocky Mountain 3-Gun Association or the match organizer.
